Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg - Ortho unit requiring a TX or compact license and 2 years of experience with telemetry strip reading ability.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg - Ortho unit with telemetry capabilities, 12 beds
• Patient ratios of 5-6 to 1
• Primarily orthopedic patient population
• CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow patients cared for on the unit
• Allscripts EMR used
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p, rotating 36/48 hours per two weeks
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Floating required to all med/tele units
• Scheduling managed by unit manager; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required, pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Strong communication and time management skills required
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Tele monitor techs are present on the unit to assist with patient monitoring
• PCTs available at a 12:1 ratio
• Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available for support
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Two shadow/orientation shifts required before working independently
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
