Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN ECMO Specialist for a Cardiovascular ICU, requiring 2+ years of ECMO circuit management experience and a SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting
- Care of post cardiac surgery patients directly from the OR
- Management of patients on ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, IABP, and Impella devices
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Floating to other qualified units or campuses may be required based on census needs
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- CES-A or E-AEC and LVAD certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ECMO Specialist (circuit management) experience required
- 3+ years of CVICU/ICU experience preferred
- 1+ years of recent unit experience considered
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, blood product administration, and interpretation of ABGs
Additional Information
- Provide specialized nursing care for patients on ECMO support using nurse-driven ECMO protocols
- Manage complex cardiovascular patients including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and TAVR cases
- Monitor for complications such as abdominal compartment syndrome and manage high-output drains
- Participate in mandatory compliance orientation held every Monday
- Complete pre-assignment testing and training modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
- Travelers must maintain required distance thresholds from Prisma Health facilities to meet eligibility and pay rate requirements
- First-time travelers not considered for this position
