Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for an Ortho Trauma unit, requiring 1 year of Med/Surg experience and a TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Work on a 36-bed Ortho Trauma Specialty Med/Surg unit
- Staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs, and 3 CNAs per shift
- Patient ratio of 1:5, with flexing up to 1:6
- Patient population includes polytrauma patients, non-surgical cervical fractures cleared by spine/ortho/trauma, downgraded TBI patients, burn downgrades, and patients with no more than 3 drains
- Manages Heparin and Protonix drips
- Uses telemetry monitoring equipment
- Charts in Meditech EMR
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Floating required to all Med/Surg units
- 4 weekend shifts required per contract
- Must be on the unit by 1845 for shift huddle, with tardiness subject to hospital policy
Requirements
- Active RN license (TX or compact) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
- Ortho and/or trauma patient care experience preferred
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Professional references required (2 for FL/MO, 1 for all other states)
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to orthopedic and trauma Med/Surg patients, including monitoring drains and administering IV drips
- Team-player mentality valued on this unit
- Scrub color required: Royal Blue
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
