Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float position requiring at least 2 years of telemetry experience and ventilator management skills.
Details
- Float between Med-Surg and other Telemetry units
- Average unit census of 36 with 36 rooms/beds
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend coverage required
- No on-call requirements
- Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
- Preferred charting system is Allscripts
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
- Ventilator management experience required
- Epic experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass onsite EKG competency exam and Relias EKG test prior to start
- Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experienced in telemetry monitoring, both on-unit and remote
- Skilled in use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experienced in pre/post cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, angiogram, and post-MI care
- Skilled in IV therapy including starting IVs, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experienced managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and heparin protocols
- Skilled in respiratory care including chronic ventilator management, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
- No license restrictions, disciplinary actions, board investigations, or background findings accepted
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across Med-Surg and Telemetry units with a focus on cardiac and respiratory patient needs
- Required to wear royal blue scrubs
- Facility is a smoke and nicotine-free environment; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
- Returning staff reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- RTO must be submitted with initial application and cannot be changed once approved, except to cancel requested time
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
