Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active MO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience.
Details
- Medical Specialties unit with a max capacity of 57 beds servicing internal medicine patients with a wide range of diagnoses
- Rooms feature video monitoring, sitter rooms, ceiling lifts, and bariatric accommodations
- Charge nurse and supervisor present on every shift
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- 36 or 48 hour contracts available
- Average patient ratios are 1:5 for days and 1:6 for nights, with occasional increases to 1:6 days and 1:7 nights
- Required to float to MS and MS/Tele units, including as a Patient Observer (sitter)
- Cerner charting preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active RN license (MO or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required; 1.5 years considered for quality candidates
- Experience with patient ratios ranging from 1:4-7
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, wound care, and respiratory care
- Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to internal medicine patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
- Work in a 24/7 healthcare facility with routine exposure to contagious illnesses
- Holiday coverage required for 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
- Rotating shifts, weekend work, and inclement weather coverage required
- Local candidates residing within 50-74 miles may be offered at a local rate; those within 50 miles are not eligible
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
- Travelers can work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a mandatory 6-month break is required before returning in an agency capacity
