Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2+ years of PICU experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) within a teaching hospital setting
- General pediatric critical care patient population with a 1:2-3 patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Blocked schedule options available (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
- Schedule will flex to meet unit needs
- Mandatory floating required, including to PCU or MS units as needed, with Pediatrics staff floating anywhere in the organization as Patient Observers (sitters)
- Cerner charting system preferred
Requirements
- Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- TNCC certification appreciated but not required
- Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial and central line management, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with ventilator management, intubation, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with pediatric dosage calculations, antiarrhythmics, and IV vasopressors
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and on-unit telemetry monitoring
- Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in a 24/7 healthcare facility
- Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
- Required to work assigned weekends, take call, and work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
- Rotating shifts and work during inclement weather may be required
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible, those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered the local rate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none allowed in the first week due to orientation
- Re-orientation not required if returning within 18 months of a prior assignment
