Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a CO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.
Details
- Acute care Med/Surg unit (5th floor, Renal) with 22 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Patient population includes CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeds, and acute renal failure
- RNs required to titrate drips such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
- RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, and vents
- No tele/monitor techs on unit
- Charge nurse available and may take an assignment
- Nurse aide ratio of 1:50
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling allowed
- Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating may be required within Zone 1 (Penrose Hospital, St Francis, St Francis InterQuest, St Mary Corwin, St Thomas More) based on extreme need, including to ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12 hours of orientation provided, with week of orientation requiring in-state presence
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact (NLC) RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
- TNCC and NIHSS skills required
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Renal unit with a varied diagnosis population
- Administer and titrate medication drips as part of daily responsibilities
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Weekend and holiday coverage required
- Call or standby requirements determined by the nurse manager
- Floating requirements determined by nurse manager and department needs
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
- Unit/department specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
