Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring 3+ years of ED experience and ACLS/BLS certification.
Details
- Emergency Department setting within a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Night shift schedule, 3 or 4x12 hour shifts, 18:00-6:30
- Every other weekend required
- Patient ratio of 4:1, with occasional flex to 5:1
- Frequently requires staffing in the Behavioral Health ED POD
- No on-call requirements
- No floating outside of service line
- EPIC charting system used
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
- 3 years of ED experience required; 2-3 years considered with Level I Trauma Center and prior travel experience
- Travel assignment experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC
- Preferred certifications: CPI, NIHSS
- EPIC charting experience required
- Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Experience with psychiatric patient populations including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and managing violent behavior preferred
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care/management experience
- Experience with emergency medications and IV vasopressors
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and triage protocols
- Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity trauma setting
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Previous permanent BJC employees must wait 1 year before returning as a travelers
- Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
