Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of bedside RN experience and the ability to float across multiple inpatient units.
Details
- Float pool position within a large short-term acute care, Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Floats shift to shift to inpatient units including Med Surg, Trauma, Oncology, Heart and Vascular, Neuro, Medicine, COVID units, and ED Holding/Boarding (excludes Women's/Infants and L&D)
- Patient ratios of 1:4-6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- EPIC charting system used
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent bedside RN experience, with at least 1 year in Med/Surg or Med/Surg Tele acute care
- IV start and telemetry skills required
- Must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias; will need to pass a Relias EKG exam
- Strong, independent nursing skills required for a large multi-unit float assignment
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Preferred certifications: CPI, NIHSS, OCN, CCRN, TNCC
- Preferred experience: Chemotherapy administration/monitoring, oncology, Trauma Level I/II
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across multiple inpatient specialty units on a rotating shift-to-shift basis
- Navy scrub color required
- No block scheduling accommodations available
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not accepted
- Standard travelers may work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service
- Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Returning travelers require an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Pending license accepted at time of submission
