Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring 1 year of experience and a New Mexico or compact RN license.

• Medical Surgical unit setting
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:30 AM-7:00 PM)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6 week period
• Floats to units of equal acuity as needed with brief orientation provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending licenses accepted if obtained prior to start
• BLS certification required; CPI preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if they have 24 months of nursing experience
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management required
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, HFNC, and oxygen administration required
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and wound care/wound vac required
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA required
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure patients required
• CVA experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a Medical Surgical unit including isolation precautions and PPE compliance
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Former staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted for this position
• Maximum of 3-4 days RTO auto-approved; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Must complete labs within 48 business hours of contract signing
• Onsite orientation includes completion of required training modules
