Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a general Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ED experience and an active NM or compact RN license.
Details
- General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients
- 1:5 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
- Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
- At least 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
- Epic charting system preferred
- Floating to like units within scope required based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending NM/Compact license accepted if obtained prior to start
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS required; CPI and TNCC preferred
- 2 years of RN experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care
- Experience with ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation preferred
- Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation monitoring
- Experience managing neurological trauma cases including CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury preferred
- Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Proficient in isolation precautions, PPE use, and triage
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No travel pairs or groups accepted
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as locals are not accepted
- Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3-4 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Non-billable orientation modules required onsite, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
- Facility includes Level I and II trauma center capabilities, STEMI and Stroke certification
- Exposure to shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- Exposure to pediatric emergencies including head injury, near drowning, and spinal cord injury
