Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a PCU/Step-down Float position requiring prior charge nurse experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- PCU/Step-down float role covering a mixed patient population including ER boarded patients, telemetry, and med-surg
- Nurse to patient ratios vary from 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- May include charge nurse responsibilities on select small units staffed with 1-2 RNs supported by LPNs and CNAs
- Floating required between units and sister facilities within the state
- Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Prior charge nurse experience required
- Experience working in the US required (Canadian experience alone does not qualify)
- BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management preferred
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, and oxygen administration preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration preferred
- Experience with cardiac drips, insulin protocols, and wound care preferred
- Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include bed flow management, staffing coordination, and general unit oversight when serving in charge capacity
- Facility is a short-term acute care hospital with 325 staffed beds
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they do not live within 50 miles of the facility
- Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
