Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department requiring 2+ years of ER experience and SC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital with 75 staffed beds
• Combined adult/pediatric, non-trauma Emergency Department setting
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic EMR used for charting
• 3x12-hour evening/mid shifts (1pm-1am) including weekends and holidays as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Floating between DT and NE campuses may be required based on census and staffing needs

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license in hand prior to start
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors
• Experience caring for CVA, neuro-trauma, and head injury patients
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and triage protocols
• Experience with orthopedic trauma cases

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Handle shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic injuries
• Royal blue scrubs required for ER staff
• First-time travelers accepted as long as they meet the 2-year ER experience requirement
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced bill rate, with non-local candidates given priority
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius for local rate eligibility
• Travelers should be aware that all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November)
