Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week assignment requiring 2 years of experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 25-bed Med/Surg unit on the 3rd floor
• Patient ratios of 5-6:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Unit staffed with a unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs on days, and 2-3 PCTs on nights
• Uses Sara Steady lifts, wound vac, Tele Health, virtual sitter equipment, remote telemetry, IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing cabinets
• Charting completed in Meditech
• Performs IV and foley catheter placement procedures
• Scheduled shifts run 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Required to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) with flexible weekdays
• Floating required, most often between Med/Surg units on a PRN basis

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required; NIH Stroke and CPI certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Strong assessment skills required
• Experience with IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing cabinets required
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history totaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Follows BSSR and hourly rounding patient experience standards
• Required uniform consists of black or royal blue scrubs
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
