Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Trauma ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma and comprehensive stroke center, requiring CO or compact RN licensure and critical care experience.

Details

• Acute care setting in the NeuroTrauma ICU (NTICU), a 24-bed unit
• Patient population includes stroke, neuro, trauma, ortho, surgical, and medical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling with a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating and call/standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• First to float, with potential to float within Zone 3 during extreme need
• RNs titrate drips including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, and specialized medications
• RNs read their own telemetry strips using Philips monitors
• No nurse aides on this unit
• 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy and hospitalist/intensivist coverage
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA)
• CRRT and TCAR certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1 year of trauma/surgical and neuro critical care experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Strong communication and teamwork skills required
• Flexibility required for scheduling and floating needs
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neuro, trauma, and stroke patients in a Level 1 trauma and comprehensive stroke center
• 8 hours of trauma and stroke education required annually for staff
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Float radius policy applies, requiring travelers to secure housing that allows floating within the hired zone
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility within the past year
