Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Progressive Care Unit position requiring NIHSS certification and prior neuro PCU experience.
Details
- Work in a 30-bed Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care department focused on medical neurological patients
- Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department provides cardiac monitoring surveillance support
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Rotating weekend requirement
- Floating required as needed across all facility campuses
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Self-assisted scheduling via Optilink on 6-week periods
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior Neuro PCU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with CVA care, external CPAP/BiPAP, TR Band, and Yale Swallowing Screen required
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and EKG skills required
- Experience managing cardiac drips without titration
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
- Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
Additional Information
- Provide care for medical neurological patients including CVA cases on a stepdown unit
- Perform non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, IV therapy, and central/peripheral line management
- Utilize cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills for emergency response
- Complete non-billable orientation modules averaging 2-4 hours, hours vary by unit
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, with no local rate option available
