Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift contract requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit with 1:2 patient ratio
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required to Antepartum unit
- Epic charting system preferred
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery management including vaginal and C-section deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock response
- Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
- Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients including those with pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
- Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, cesarean section recovery, and lactation support
- 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Serve as the patient's primary nurse, managing care from admission through discharge
- Responsible for patient safety, comfort, and emergency response during labor, delivery, and postpartum care
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, VBAC management, and neonatal resuscitation in the delivery room
- Provide care for patients experiencing medical complications such as diabetes, cardiac disease, and substance abuse during pregnancy
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at the local rate
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
- Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
- Former employees must have a 1-year separation period before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the experience requirements
