Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with prior travel experience and CA RN licensure for an evening shift position with every other weekend coverage.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital with 200-300 facility births per month
- Evening shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 15:00 to 03:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required to Antepartum
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Epic charting system experience preferred
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in labor and delivery management including vaginal and C-section deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock response
- Experience with antepartum care, high-risk pregnancy conditions, and fetal monitoring (external and internal)
- Experience with postpartum care, newborn care, and neonatal resuscitation
- Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Experience with pain management methods including epidural and IV conscious sedation
Additional Information
- Serve as the patient's primary nurse, managing overall nursing care from admission to discharge
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and perform disease prevention and restorative measures
- Respond to medical and environmental emergencies as needed
- Care for high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and preterm labor
- Holiday coverage required with only one holiday request permitted per contract
- Local candidates accepted at the local rate
- Must live within a 50-mile radius to be considered for the travel rate
- Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
- First-time travelers are not specified as eligible, but prior travel experience is required
