Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a TX or compact license, 2+ years of ED experience, and TNCC certification.

Details

• 24-bed ER with 3 trauma bays in an acute care hospital setting
• Fast track area available with a separate triage area that travelers may occasionally staff
• ER holds are intermixed within the department and cared for by ER RNs
• Handles 80-90 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac cases
• Uses Paragon EMR
• No telemetry monitor techs on the unit; RNs must independently read ECG rhythms
• X-Ray and CT located adjacent to the ER
• Respiratory therapy manages ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment
• Phlebotomy draws completed by techs or RNs
• Night shift schedule with self-scheduling options (9-9, 11-11, 1-1, 3-3)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday requirement
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required to units for which the nurse is qualified
• In-house security available

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
• ENPC or PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Must know how to read ECG rhythms independently
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Navy scrub color and dress code required
• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
• Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
