Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of outpatient experience for a 13-week contract in a hospital-based outpatient setting.
Details
- Outpatient physical therapy unit serving a rural community
- Patient population includes adults and school-aged children, with diagnoses such as post-ortho and post-spinal surgeries, geriatrics, work injuries, and neurological imbalance
- 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM shift, 5 8-hour shifts preferred but open to 4 10-hour shifts
- No weekend rotation or on-call requirements
- Closed on major holidays with possible coverage of 50% of minor holidays
- No floating required
- Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of outpatient physical therapy experience required
- Bachelor's degree or higher required
- BLS certification required
- Maine PT license required (compact or state license); license required if applicable
- Experience with manual therapy, exercise science, and patient education including adaptive equipment such as walkers, canes, and crutches
Additional Information
- Department includes 4 PTs, 2 PTAs, OT and SLP staff, 2 PSRs, and at least 1 assistant supervisor on-site with manager available by phone
- Orientation includes NEO plus 1 to 1.5 weeks of partnered training with gradually increasing patient load
- Scrubs of any solid color or business casual attire accepted

- Open to first-time travelers
- RTO requests must be approved by the manager
- Flu vaccination required for clearance to start, with medical exemptions only considered and subject to facility approval

Depending on where you work scheduling can be “ok” but acuity tends to be heavy with VERY little support from staff and supervisor. Do not recommend if you are not advanced with expierence. Staff will let you drown and refuse to help you.
