Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Acute Rehab Inpatient position requiring 1 year of MS or Acute Rehab experience and a NE or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute inpatient rehabilitation unit with 7 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4, staffed with LPN+RN or RN+RN pairs when 5+ patients are present
- Patient population includes stroke, trauma, cardiac, debility, spinal cord injury, neuro, and orthopedic diagnoses
- Average length of stay is 7-10 days, up to 30 days, with lower medical complexity than acute care
- Telemetry is present on the unit but nurses are not required to read strips, as monitoring occurs centrally
- PT/OT/SLP services provided; respiratory equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP, no trach patients
- EPIC EMR used, Epic experience preferred
- 12-hour shifts, 6a-6p/6p-6a, self-scheduling with block scheduling allowed
- Weekender rotation covering day and night shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Weekend requirement of every 3rd weekend
- Holiday requirement of every other observed holiday
- Floating required to MS, Stepdown, and BHU units (passing meds or sitting)
- On-call may be required during periods of low census
Requirements
- Active RN license (NE or Compact) required
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)/Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg or Acute Rehab experience required
- Skills required include IV insertion, straight caths, foley catheters, antibiotic administration, and isolation patient care
- RN IRF training completed in an Acute Rehab Unit setting preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- Participate in weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings held Wednesday mornings
- No charge nurse responsibilities, as a charge nurse is assigned to the unit and House Supervisors manage daily staffing needs
- Nurse aides float in as needed; none are currently on permanent unit staff
- Navy scrub color required for nursing staff
- Unit-specific orientation consists of one shift
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside within a 45-mile radius of the facility
