Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ED Observation/Telemetry unit requiring WA or compact RN licensure and med/surg telemetry experience.
Details
- ED Observation unit within an acute care hospital, functioning as a boarding area for patients waiting for inpatient rooms
- 8-16 beds/trauma bays with 8-16 patients per day
- 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Med/Surg telemetry patient population with RNs monitoring their own telemetry strips
- Night shift schedule, 1900-0730
- Every other weekend required
- Standby call requirement
- Floating required to similar floors, with priority to float first; primary assignment to St Joseph Medical Center but may require floating throughout Region Two facilities (St. Clare Hospital – Lakewood, WA; St. Elizabeth Hospital – Enumclaw, WA; St Joseph Medical Center – Tacoma, WA)
- EPIC EMR used
- In-house security, charge nurse/house supervisor, and nurse aide/patient sitter support available
- House transporters available for X-Ray or CT needs
- Lab draws performed by phlebotomy
- RT provides oxygen and SVN treatments
Requirements
- Active WA state or compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Med/surg telemetry experience required
- BSN not required
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to ED observation/boarding patients awaiting inpatient placement
- Manage own telemetry monitoring and interpret strips
- Navy blue scrubs required
- One day of unit/department specific orientation
- No holiday coverage requirement
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
- Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
