Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring strong cardiac monitoring experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the PCU/Stepdown unit of a hospital setting
- Patient population requires telemetry and cardiac monitoring with emergency response capability
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Float to MedSurg units as needed
- Required to work every other weekend
Requirements
- Active RN license (AL or Compact) required, pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience in MS/Tele, Tele, and PCU/Stepdown work settings required
- Ability to start IVs, manage Heparin protocols, and manage cardiac drips (no titration required)
- Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care/management
- Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
- Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
- Charting system experience required (any EMR)
Additional Information
- Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response care within the PCU/Stepdown unit
- Must work at least one of the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day
- Must reside within 60 miles for local candidate rate eligibility
- Requested time off limited to a maximum of 7 days
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to apply
