Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a rural night-shift position requiring a UT or compact RN license and 1-2 years of medical/surgical experience.
Details
- Rural hospital Medical Surgical unit caring for patients across the lifespan, from post-partum neonates to geriatrics
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, high acuity, rehabilitative, skilled, and pediatric cases
- Night shift schedule, 6PM to 6AM, on a 7 on/7 off rotation
- Opportunities to cross-train in post-partum care, infusion and wound therapies, Emergency Department, and/or PACU
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered UT or compact RN license
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- 1-2 years of medical/surgical experience preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS and PALS certifications required or must be obtained within one year of hire
- NRP certification required within one year of hire, with patient care appropriate to certification
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to rapidly changing clinical situations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Provide direct and indirect patient care across a wide variety of ages, diagnoses, and acuity levels
- Rural setting offers opportunity to expand clinical skill set across multiple specialties
- Must maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive patient information
- Must remain calm and professional in stressful or emotionally demanding situations
- Requires reliability and punctuality with scheduled shifts
- Must be flexible and willing to take on additional duties as assigned
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug test and background check required
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
