Description
American Traveler is hiring a Step-Down RN with at least 2 years of PCU/cardiac post-op experience for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
Details
- Step-Down unit within a short-term acute care hospital
- 1:5 patient ratio caring for cardiac post-surgical patients
- Patient population includes post-CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, heart transplant, and LVAD implant cases
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (must match permanent residence if compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or teaching hospital experience)
- Strong PCU experience required, including cardiac post-op care, temp pacers, epicardial wires, chest tubes, and titrating IV drips
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care required
- PICC line management experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Charge RN experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to cardiac post-surgical patients including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,273 staffed beds
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved, no exceptions
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Does not accept local candidates within a 75-mile radius
- Standard travelers may work up to 18 months total before requiring a 3-month break in service
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to this health system as a traveler
- Pending MO license accepted at time of submission; IL license must be in hand at submittal
