Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float RN for a Short Term Acute Care facility, requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and IV start/Telemetry certification.

Details

  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
  • MS/Tele Float position with floating to Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Neuro, Cardiology, and Renal units
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on days/weekends and 1:6 on nights
  • Every other weekend required, or minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Holiday rotation obligation
  • No on-call requirement
  • EPIC charting system used
  • No block scheduling accommodation

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required (hard requirement)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • IV start and Telemetry certification required
  • Skills in central line care, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and IV therapy required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry remote monitoring
  • Experience with respiratory care including HFNC, ABG interpretation, and oxygen administration
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
  • CVA, feeding tube care, and total joint replacement experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Float pool nurses call a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment
  • Training provided for lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanner use
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Free parking available
  • Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved, no exceptions
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during first week of assignment
  • Local candidates not accepted within 75-mile radius
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers must reside outside 75-mile radius and may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
