Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of Level 3 or higher trauma center experience and EPIC proficiency.
Details
- Work in a 24-bed Emergency Department, including 8 behavioral health rooms in a locked unit
- Level 3 Trauma Center and Level 3 NICU facility
- Patient population includes psych, trauma, general medical, sepsis, cardiac, stroke, and abdominal pain cases
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5, with up to 1:5-6 for low acuity patients
- 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Minimal floating, with rare instances to a free-standing ER or elsewhere within the facility as a helping hand
- Support staff includes 2-4 CNA/ER Techs per shift, receptionist/HUC, non-patient-taking charge nurse, 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage, and physicians/mid-level providers
- EMR: EPIC (required)
- IV pumps: Alaris
- Medication dispensing: Pyxis
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, NIHSS, TNCC or ATCN
- MOAB/CPI certification acceptable to obtain after start
- 2+ years of ER experience in a Level 3 trauma center or higher required for traditional travelers
- Proficiency in RSI, conscious sedation, and lines/drains/tubes management
- General ER skills required
- EPIC EMR experience required

- Provide emergency care across a wide range of patient acuities and conditions, including trauma and behavioral health cases
- Utilizes a 1:1 model for CAP
- Scrubs: any professional, solid color accepted
- Free parking available on-site
- Unit culture is described as supportive with strong teamwork, though the environment can be stressful
- Holiday coverage required as needed per unit
- Standard time off approval for up to 7 days, with additional requests requiring nurse manager approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for traditional traveler positions
