Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital position requiring 24 months of Med/Surg experience and PCA/Heparin drip proficiency.

Details

• Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting with 30 beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Patient population includes hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery cases
• Manages PCA and Heparin drips
• Uses Epic EMR
• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week with a 36 hr option available
• Every 3rd weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Required to float across campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist) to like units
• Unit has an emotional support canine

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting required
• PCA and Heparin drip experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Post-op surgical experience highly preferred
• Experience with hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery patient care highly preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit including post-surgical recovery for hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery patients
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) unless the unit is closed
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Candidates who were previously employed by the health system as FTE or PRN float pool staff are ineligible to work travel assignments at any facility within the market, including this one, regardless of where they currently work or have worked in the past 12 months
• Local candidates are not permitted within 50 miles of the facility
