Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring a CO or compact RN license and ACLS/BLS certification.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 14 beds and 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes CHF, hypertension, chest pain workups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeding, and acute renal failure
• 12-hour night shifts
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling offered
• Weekend requirement of six shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating required to other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele as determined by nurse manager and department needs
• Call or standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• RNs required to titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• No dedicated tele/monitor techs; RNs must independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, and ventilators
• Charge nurse/house supervisor available and may take an assignment
• Nurse aide support provided at a 1:9 patient ratio
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• Active CO state or compact (NLC) RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience in a rural or lower-resource hospital setting preferred
• Comfortable independently interpreting telemetry strips and escalating concerns to physicians
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a range of medical and surgical diagnoses on a fast-paced unit
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility per CO radius policy, with driver's license used to confirm permanent address
• Float radius policy applies; travelers must secure housing that allows them to float within the assigned zone
• Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week, though initial modules may be completed remotely
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
