Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift contract requiring 3+ years of CV ICU experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in a cardiovascular-focused ICU (CVICU) at a cardiac surgery-focused campus
• 12-hour night shift schedule with every other weekend required
• 8 weeks in length
• May float to Glenbrook MICU, Evanston ICU, or Highland Park ICU as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Epic EMR used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS (American Heart or American Red Cross only), ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of CV ICU experience required
• Must pass a Relias EKG test with a score of 80% or higher prior to submission, and an on-site pass/fail EKG test on Day 1
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required, with at least 1 completed travel assignment
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in interpretation/management of dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure, thermoregulation, CABG, IABP, Impella, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, PA line/Swan Ganz monitoring, valve replacement/repair, LVAD/RVAD, and CVVHD/CRRT
• Proficient in IV therapy including arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation and paralytics
• Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management, lumbar drain care, and assisting with BiPAP/CPAP management
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, and high flow nasal cannula
• Knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Experience with phlebotomy and surgical wound/wound vac care
• Two professional references required, with one from the most recent travel assignment
• Date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular ICU patients including post-surgical and cardiac intervention cases
• Must work 1-2 holidays during the contract period
• Maximum RTO of 3 days permitted during the 8-week contract
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Must reside within a 50-mile local radius
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
• Returning permanent or per diem staff must have been away from the facility for at least 12 months to be eligible as a traveler
• Candidates should expect a brief interview (10-15 minutes) with the hospital as part of the process
