Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring NC or compact licensure and a minimum of 2 years of hospital experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system required
• Must pass an onsite EKG/Telemetry exam

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS or Stroke Certification
• Minimum 2 years of hospital nursing experience required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code teams
• Skills in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with wound care and isolation precautions/PPE
• One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit, including post-surgical, cardiac, and neurological patient populations
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue
• Orientation occurs on a biweekly basis
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates living within 75 miles are accepted at a lower rate
• Previous permanent employment with Duke University Health System must be disclosed, and candidates must not have been a permanent employee within the past 6 months
