Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/IMCU position requiring a CA RN license and 2-3 years of specialty experience.
Details
- IMCU/Cardiac Telemetry unit (2 West) in an acute care, Level 2 trauma hospital
- 38-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:3-4
- Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, renal failure, respiratory failure, alcohol withdrawal, and post-PCI patients
- RT equipment on unit includes BiPap, CPAP, and HFNC (no vents)
- Central telemetry monitoring using GE Apex Telemetry boxes with dedicated Monitor Techs; RNs must read and interpret strips
- RNs are not required to titrate drips, though set-rate/protocol-driven drips such as DKA, Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem are used
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour day shifts, 6:45-7:15, with self-scheduling by seniority and shift trades available
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule (Sat/Sun for days)
- Floating required to 4West or Med/Surg departments, with travelers first to float
- No call or standby requirements
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- COVID vaccine required
- 2-3 years of specialty experience required
- Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia exam onsite on first day (Pass/Fail)
- Must pass a Pass/Fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation
- Two professional references required: one supervisor within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration

- Unit led by a Nurse Shift Manager acting as Team Lead, supported by 2 Resource/Break RNs and 2-3 Unit Aides
- Strong focus on Bedside Shift Report, Patient Experience, HCAHPS, and core measures
- Seeking self-motivated, team-oriented candidates invested in the facility's mission and values
- Navy scrub color dress code
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift on the unit
- Holiday coverage required as part of the permanent staff rotation; holiday RTO considered but not guaranteed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year (PRN through outside firms is acceptable)
- Facility is traveler friendly and known for a busy, fast-paced environment
