Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring NIHSS certification and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a hospital
- 36 hours per week with 3x12 hour shifts
- Day shift (7:00-19:30) or Night shift (19:00-7:30) options
- Weekend shifts defined as Friday and Saturday nights
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of experience with strong Neuro background required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skills required include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
- Experience with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and blood product administration
- Experience managing EVDs, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery patients
- Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and traumatic brain injury care
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to neurologically complex and critically ill patients in the ICU
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I environment
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract
- Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- RTO must be submitted and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less
