Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with critical care background and active OR RN license for a variable shift assignment in a 38-bay perianesthesia unit.
Details
- Work in a 38-bay South PACU unit providing 24/7 perianesthesia care
- Care for adult and some pediatric patients across Ambulatory, Acute Care, and Critical Care populations
- Patients arrive from home, the ED, and inpatient units for pre-op prep and post-anesthesia recovery
- Variable day/evening shifts with possible night and call coverage, schedule remains consistent weekly
- Potential start times include 0530, 0900, 1100, 1300, 1500, and 1900
- Call required to support nights, weekends, and holidays
- Floating may be required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license required, OR RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA Traditional only, RQI not accepted); CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Adult or Peds Critical Care, ICU, high acuity ED, or PACU required
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, and ventilated patient care required
- Experience with various surgical specialties including Bariatrics, ENT, General, Gyn, Neuro, Ophthalmology, Ortho, and Vascular
- Experience with multiple anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, spinal, and epidural management
- Knowledge of IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
- Familiarity with Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol, pain assessment/management, PCA pump management, and RASS scoring
- Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
- Work history verification covering the last seven years, including dates, locations, and PTO, is required
- COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
- Must pass background check with no prior background or license issues accepted
Additional Information
- Provide perianesthesia care including pre-op preparation and post-anesthesia recovery for surgical and procedural patients
- Transition recovered patients to inpatient units or discharge home
- Complete required Relias exams with a minimum score of 85%
- Complete pre-start orientation modules (non-billable), averaging 4.5 hours for RNs
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
- Returning staff must have a gap of 6+ months since last assignment to be eligible
- Former OHSU employees or travelers must provide a reference from their previous OHSU supervisor
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront and not exceed 2 weeks
- First-time travelers may be considered based on position eligibility
