Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Stepdown/Medsurg unit requiring EPIC experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 29-bed flex unit serving both medsurg and stepdown patients in an acute care hospital setting
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for medsurg floor patients
• Clinical Associates support staff with a target ratio of 1:10
• RNs titrate drips per physician orders including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, and PCA medications
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and HiFlow, with ventilator settings managed by ICU
• Remote telemetry surveillance center and central monitoring available; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment used on the unit
• Charge RN and House Supervisor coverage available 24/7, with potential charge nurse role for this position
• 12-hour day shifts, weekend schedule required (Friday-Saturday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday-Monday, 7a-7:30p)
• No call or standby requirements
• First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units
• EPIC EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• BSN not required
• Must be able to handle a 6-patient medsurg assignment or a 3-patient stepdown assignment
• New graduates and experienced nurses considered

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a flex unit accommodating both medsurg and stepdown patients based on hospital needs
• Expect to work approximately half of all WVUH recognized holidays
• Scrub attire should be any combination of royal blue and white
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel positions
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU Medicine system for longer than a cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
