Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position requiring RRT certification and critical care experience, including adult intubation competency.
Details
- Acute care setting in a Respiratory Therapy unit at a 300+ bed hospital
- Patient population spans adults with select units caring for pediatrics; NICU falls under a separate nursing manager
- Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and cancers
- Therapists manage an average of 13-15 patients per shift with approximately 550 treatment minutes per shift
- ICU assignments involve up to 4 airways per therapist
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7p-7a
- Weekend rotation with Fri-Sun or M-Th team scheduling
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required
- Uses MEDITECH charting system
- Uses Servo ventilators (U and I models)
- Charge RT role available, running a Charge and Clinical Coordinator position
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
- License required if applicable
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- NRP certification required for NICU assignments
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Critical care experience required
- Minimum 1 completed travel contract required
- Must be comfortable performing intubations as first responder to codes
- Must be able to work adult ICU and manage ventilators
- Must be confident making vent management suggestions and reading ABGs
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include nebulizer treatments, airway management, Vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, and chest physiotherapy
- ICU duties include arterial line placement, blood gas management, intubation, and bronchoscopy assistance
- In-house hospitalist or intensivist coverage available 24/7
- 24/7 pharmacy services available on-site
- First week of orientation includes hospital and charting orientation, with ICU assignments requiring an additional week
- Floor therapists require minimum 1 year experience; critical care positions require minimum 2 years
- Holiday coverage rotated with permanent staff, expect every other holiday
- Scrub color is ceil blue; ceil blue jacket permitted
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
- Candidates previously employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
