Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Stepdown RN for a night shift contract requiring 2+ years of experience and proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation.

Details

• Acute care setting on an 8E Stepdown/MedSurg unit with 34 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for Floor
• Night shift hours from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
• Weekends and holidays required as scheduled
• RNs required to titrate drips
• Unit has tele monitoring with tele techs posting strips each shift, but RNs must be able to read and interpret strips independently
• In-house RT support available 24/7, including vents on the unit
• Charge Nurse and Transport RN present from 7a-7:30p at optimal staffing
• Unit typically staffed with 2-5 CAs
• May be required to float to other units
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Royal blue scrub color required

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry strip reading and interpretation required
• Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical/religious exemption

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a MedSurg Stepdown unit, including titrating drips and monitoring telemetry
• Work alongside Charge Nurses, Transport RNs, Care Assistants, and in-house Respiratory Therapy staff
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• Previous permanent staff must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Previous travelers who completed a full year at a WVU facility must wait 2 years before returning
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract
