Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Stepdown unit requiring telemetry proficiency and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Acute care setting on an 8E Stepdown/MedSurg unit with 34 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:3 on Stepdown and 1:5-6 on the Floor side
• RNs must titrate drips as part of patient care
• Unit has telemetry monitoring with dedicated tele techs posting strips each shift, though RNs must be able to read and interpret strips independently
• RT is in-house 24/7 and the unit maintains ventilators
• Charge Nurse and Transport RN support available 7a-7:30p during optimal staffing
• Nurse aides typically staff the unit, running 2-5 CAs per shift
• Day shift hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekend and holiday shifts required as scheduled
• May be required to float within the facility
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour shifts, 48 guaranteed hours per week

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• BSN not required for this position
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Stepdown unit, including drip titration and telemetry monitoring
• Royal blue scrub color required for dress code
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Previous permanent employees of this health system must have a 2-year break before reapplying as a travel candidate
• Previous travelers who worked a full year at any facility within this health system must take a 2-year break before returning
• Travelers may not work within the health system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
