Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level 2 trauma center requiring circulating experience across multiple surgical specialties and call coverage.

Details

• Acute care setting within a 16-suite Operating Room averaging 28 cases per day
• Level 2 trauma center
• Uses Cerner EMR (facility transitioning to Epic)
• Primarily 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730), with approximately 1 week of 8-hour PM shifts (1500-2330) every 5 weeks
• Night shift possible for experienced staff at the facility (2300-0700)
• Candidates choose between 8-hour and 10-hour shifts; 12-hour shifts may be available on subsequent contracts
• No blocked scheduling
• On-call required 1-2 weeknights per week (end of shift to 0700)
• Weekend call required approximately every 5-6 weekends (Friday after shift through Monday 0700)
• Holiday call required at least once per year
• Call response time is 30 minutes for primary call team and 45 minutes for teams 2-4
• Floating required to the Outpatient Surgery Center across campus
• Unit staffed 24/7/365 with a minimum of one RN and one Surgical Tech
• Charge RN always present in the OR
• OR techs are present on the unit
• Scrubbing not required for RNs

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required (must be active by start date)
• Current ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Must be able to circulate General/GYN/Urology/Peripheral Vascular cases including bowel resections, laparoscopic cases, daVinci Xi cases, urology, bariatrics, GYN, and c-sections
• Must be able to circulate Orthopedic cases including total joints (with or without MAKO robot), arthroscopy, and ortho trauma
• Must be able to circulate Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics cases including trach, ENT procedures, plastics, spine fusions, laminectomy, crani, and facial fractures
• Specialization in one of four groupings: Ortho, Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics, CV-T (including Peripheral Vascular coverage), or General/GYN/Urology/Peripheral Vascular
• BSN not required for this position
• 2 professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

• Circulate a wide variety of surgical cases across specialized service lines
• Receive 2-3 days of unit-specific orientation with an educator covering basics and required CBTs
• Additional 1-2 weeks provided to learn case flow or gain familiarity with less common case types
• Scrubs provided at no cost via Cintas vending in navy blue
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, with a reduced pay rate
• Former permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
