Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical night shift position requiring TN or compact RN license and prior Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
• 1:7 patient ratios on the unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Flexible scheduling options available including 36/36, 36/48, and 48/48
• Floating required with rotating weekends and rotating holidays
• Required to use Epic charting system
• Work involves supporting nursing student clinical education alongside patient care duties

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only accepted)
• ACLS certification preferred (AHA only accepted)
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios preferred
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and PICC line management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE
• Experience with orthopedic, renal, and GI patient populations preferred
• Must complete Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing
• Must complete drug screening within 12-14 calendar days prior to start
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a Medical Surgical unit while also supporting nursing student clinical education
• Must reside 100 miles or more from the facility's service area with no local candidates accepted
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online coursework
• Approximately 4-5 hours of non-billable training modules completed during orientation
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
