Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring 2-5 years of ED/critical care experience and at least 1 year of prior travel experience.
Details
- Emergency Department setting at a Joint Commission Certified Stroke Center
- 36-hour night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and holiday requirement
- Patient ratios of 4:1 to 5:1
- Unit includes future 20 beds, 3 locked behavioral health beds, 3 medical/psych swing beds, and 2 triage rooms
- Unit currently under construction requiring flexibility with workflow changes
- Uses EPIC EMR
- No on-call requirements
- 25-mile float policy between facilities as needed
Requirements
- Active RN license (Maine or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, and NIHSS
- 2 to 5 years of Emergency Department/Critical Care experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required
- Strong communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills required
Additional Information
- Provide emergency and critical care nursing within a team-oriented environment requiring flexibility and strong communication
- Scrubs must be a solid color and professional attire is required at all times
- Candidates located within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility are considered local and are not eligible for renewals or extensions
- RTO should be minimal, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at the manager's discretion
- Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this during consideration
- Air pods, laptops, and cell phone use are prohibited while on the unit

Pros
This hospital is hands down the least toxic hospital I have ever had the privilege of working. I absolutely love the people I work with. Everyone I come into contact with likes what they do and they do it with passion. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s close.
Cons
It’s a smaller hospital, so there’s a lot of critical care devices (CRRT, ECMO, etc) to work with like level 1 trauma centers have.
