Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring CA licensure and advanced fetal monitoring skills.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit in a community hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Cares for both laboring and postpartum patients, including newborns

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NRP provider certification required
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring experience required
• Must be comfortable caring for both mother and newborn after delivery
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Terbutaline, and antihypertensives
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
• Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating/recovering C-sections
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Performs triage of obstetrical patients and sterile vaginal exams
• Utilizes external fetal monitoring (EFM) and documents APGAR scores
• Handles ID/security banding and newborn care in the delivery room
• Manages postpartum complications such as bladder distension and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Provides pain management support including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
• Follows isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
• Returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
