Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position in a busy emergency department requiring an active NY RN license and EPIC charting experience.

Details

• 13-week assignment in the Emergency Department of an acute care teaching hospital
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 3x12 hours
• Treats adult and geriatric patients with all emergency type diagnoses
• 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Uses specialized equipment including Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Requires EPIC charting experience
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• Scrub color is any combination of navy blue and white

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not Compact)
• Pending licenses not accepted
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• PALS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with IV vasopressors required
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management required
• Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI required
• Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Emergency care experience with adult/pediatric ED cases, gunshot wounds, and ortho trauma required
• Experience with isolation precautions and triage required
• Pediatric spinal cord injury experience required

• Provide direct patient care in a 24/7 emergency department with a centralized layout for rapid patient care and advanced diagnostic technology
• Department includes a dedicated pediatric ED, a discreet crisis intervention unit, and a trauma suite near the ambulance entrance
• Facility is Magnet-recognized and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Facility is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without charge
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for this RN position
• Returning staff must have at least 6 months since their last assignment system-wide
• All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application
