Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN with a PA or compact license, prior ICU experience, and ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications for a 13-week assignment at an acute care hospital.

Details

• Work in an 8-bed ICU unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
• Patient population includes cardiac and neurology diagnoses
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• RNs required to titrate drips including common titratable and set-rate drips
• RT manages all ventilator equipment; RNs troubleshoot as needed
• Nihon-Kohden cardiac monitors used; RNs interpret their own cardiac rhythms
• Charge nurse accepts a patient assignment
• No patient care techs or aides on the unit
• Hospitalist with resident or mid-level coverage; RT in ICU as needed
• Rotating 7a-7p or 7p-7a shifts, or straight nights
• Every other weekend required on a block schedule
• Every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirements
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) currently in hand
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Prior ICU experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), and PALS
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Provide direct ICU nursing care for cardiac and neurology patients
• Scrub color and dress code are flexible
• Unit-specific orientation length varies based on experience
• Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week assignment (1 shift for assignments shorter than 13 weeks)
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as travelers
• Returning travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying to any WVU Medicine location
• Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for longer than a year without taking a 2-year break
• All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
