Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Operating Room position requiring a NJ or compact RN license and one year of OR experience.

Details

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• 12-hour AM shifts, 7a-8p, 3 days per week
• 36 hours per week on a 13-week assignment
• On-call responsibilities required
• Floating required, including to a sister hospital nearby
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Cares for surgical patients across the continuum of pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CNOR certification preferred
• Minimum one year of OR experience required
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, perioperative team functions, and Pre Admission Testing (PAT) processes
• Competency in documentation guidelines, National Patient Safety Goals, and Universal Protocol
• Skilled in safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics

Additional Information

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments across pediatric to geriatric populations
• Provide direct patient care and support emergency equipment and procedures as needed
• Document patient progress and nursing care components accurately in the patient chart
• Deliver patient and family-centered care while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality
• Follow safety protocols including two-patient identifier verification
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments and education
• Support completion of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders and evaluate for appropriateness
• Local candidates accepted at a different rate
• Travelers may stay on assignment up to one calendar year from initial start date, after which a 30-60 day break is required before returning
