Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring a CA RN license, telemetry experience, and 2+ years of relevant clinical experience.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit with a daily census of 18 and 21 beds
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Required to work every other weekend
• Float requirement to telemetry units, with infrequent floating to an affiliated hospital approximately 15 minutes away
• Unit systems include Pyxis, Cerner, and SBAR communication

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (EMSA not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Med/Surg Tele or Telemetry setting
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• TNCC or TCAR certification required prior to start
• Preferred certifications: CPI or MAB
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and port access/management
• Experience managing chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with GI feeding tube care, renal/hemodialysis management, and neurological conditions (CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury)
• Experience with ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients
• Experience with Heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, and PCA medication management
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Recent Nursys verification required
• One supervisory professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a wide range of med/surg and telemetry conditions including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, renal, and orthopedic cases
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• May float to an affiliated community hospital with advance notice; orientation provided for float assignments
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• All requested time off must be submitted prior to consideration, as post-submission RTO requests will not be approved
• 1-hour CA Harassment training course required
