Description
American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a day-shift hospital assignment requiring at least 1 year of current PACU experience and a Colorado or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 17-bay PACU/Pre-Op unit with 4 ORs within a hospital setting
- Caseload is approximately 80% orthopedic and 20% general surgery procedures
- Procedures include total joints, sports medicine, foot/ankle, podiatry, hand and nerve cases, hernias, lap appendectomy, lap cholecystectomy, and breast cases with some plastic reconstruction
- Patient ratios are 1:2 in Pre-Op, 1:1 in PACU Phase 1, and 2:2 in PACU Phase 2
- Uses stretchers, blood glucose monitors, patient monitors, BP equipment, and Pyxis machines
- Documentation performed in Meditech EMR
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Call requirement of 1-2 shifts per week (minimum 1), Monday through Thursday from 1700-0500
- May be asked to assist with partial weekend call coverage if the weekend RN is off during the quarter
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of current PACU experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Knowledge of PT/OT instructions for joint patients preferred
- Comfortable with bedside teaching preferred
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide perianesthesia nursing care to a predominantly orthopedic surgical population
- Work alongside an experienced, dedicated nursing and anesthesia team with strong department morale
- Collaborate with floor nurses for patient admissions
- Facility is approximately 5 years old with modern, clean surroundings
- Holiday call coverage is shared among the team; all holidays are currently covered by staff
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Team players with flexibility, a positive attitude, and strong work ethic are ideal fits
