Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring CO or compact licensure and float flexibility across a multi-hospital zone.

Details

• Acute care Level 3 Trauma Emergency Department setting
• Mixed ER holding area without separate psych/seclusion rooms
• Average of 40 patients treated per day with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and HTN
• RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• RT available 24/7 to perform breathing treatments and ABGs
• RNs trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• Techs support unit secretary duties, assist nurses on the floor, and assist in triage
• Charge nurse takes patient assignments
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Must float within Zone 3, including OrthoCO Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St Anthony, and St Anthony North

Requirements

• Active CO state or Compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required and must be active
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide emergency department nursing care to a wide range of acute and trauma patients
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, charge nurses, and support staff including techs
• Perform point-of-care lab testing as part of daily responsibilities
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the zone's city center due to Colorado's float radius policy
• Responsible for securing housing that allows for floating throughout the full 60-mile zone
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
