Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical Oncology RN for a 13-week contract requiring CT/Compact RN licensure and at least 3 years of oncology experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical Oncology unit in a 186-bed Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (0700-1930)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certifications preferred
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience required (1.5 years considered for Level I trauma or travel experience)
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Trauma Level II, teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and central line care
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
• Knowledge of oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, extravasation, hemorrhage) required
• Experience managing symptom side effects such as nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
• Familiarity with psychosocial care including hospice and advanced directives
• Experience caring for patients with various cancer types (breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, etc)
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for psychosocial and palliative care needs
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption
• Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the hospital
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a travel nurse
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• First-time travelers are not preferred given travel experience requirement
