Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2 years of experience and Trauma Level I/II background.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with neurology, stroke, cardiac, wound care, respiratory, ortho, oncology, and surgical diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Uses Pyxis and Omnicell medication systems and SBAR communication
• Charts in EPIC
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (1900-0730)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• Floating within the hospital required based on census
• Call required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (hard stop)
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Skilled in isolation precautions and PPE use
• Experience with peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and oxygen tank use
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• One professional reference required (within 2 years)
• Current Nursys report required (pulled within 2 weeks of consideration), with no reportable hits

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a diverse patient population
• Scrub color requirement: Navy
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; no changes allowed afterward
• Previous permanent staff of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate if within 50 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travel experience is required for this role
